SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF A PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMAT IN THE LIGHT OF CONTEMPORARY PSYCHOLOGY

Abstract

First of all a professional diplomat should have deep knowledge and a great working experience in the field. A diplomat accredited in a certain country should study and pay special attention on both the country and the psychology of people living there. He should avoid common judgements leaning on particular facts and observations. A professional diplomat should avoid affording feelings and be objective. In the author’s opinion for launching a professional activity a diplomat should be able to win people’s and especially foreign negotiator’s trust. It’s underlined, that a diplomat should possess features like honesty, modesty, patience, tranquillity, moral punctuality and fairness.
