THE SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL MECHANISMS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF FORMATION OF SOCIAL STEREOTYPES

This work was supported by the RA MES State Committee of Science in the framework of project ? T6A?5aO8’. The article presents the main mechanisms and processes for the formation of social stereotypes. Stereotypes are based on such psychological processes as the formation of concepts and classifications, attribution, emotions, evaluation and memory. Stereotypes are the product of psychological processes. Both personal experience and rules developed by society are the sources ofthe formation ofsocial stereotypes.
