THE SKILL OF PARAPHRASING AS A COMMUNICATIVE AND COGNITIVE TOOL IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE ACQUISITION AT TERTIARY LEVEL

The article highlights the use of paraphrasing as a universal skill, equally essential for effective speaking, writing, listening and reading. It discusses the role of paraphrasing in various communicative situations, specifying its significance in pre–service education of teachers and translators, and offers a list of strategies aimed at teaching the skill of paraphrasing.
